Solar PV Hampshire
There are many benefits that come with having solar PV panels installed on your roof. Firstly solar energy is renewable, which means you won’t ever need to worry about running out of sunlight as the sun is a consistent source of power. Another benefit is that solar panels require very little or no maintenance and are environmentally friendly as they do not release any green house gases or any other gases that could harm the environment.
There are many more benefits of having solar PV panels installed but in the long run it is far cheaper to have solar panels as there is only a one off cost and then the panels will start to pay for themselves. This is a more efficient way of generating electricity for your home as you will be getting paid instead of receiving a monthly bill from a power company.
Feed In Tariff
Currently there is a tariff that is paid for the power generated by the solar panels (called FIT or Feed In Tariff) of just over £0.44p per unit (tax free, index linked, and guaranteed for 25 years) which is 3 times what most people are paying for their electricity supply.
In March 2012 this is going to be reduced so that signing up after the end of March will result in getting a lower payment. The amount of reduction is not yet known, they were talking about 7% which would not really matter, but now there is rumour of a cut of 50% which would kill the market totally.
